Division

The proper way to do division. Who knew? They were teaching it wrong the whole time. This technique is sometimes called chunking or partial quotients. To make it fast you use tricks to build up your own multiplication table of quotients.

One more trick. Normally in partial quotients you are told to never exceed the dividend. But what happens if you do exceed the dividend? The answer is that it still works but you have to take care of the signs of the remainders and quotients, which can become negative. One can often get to the answer much faster by always using the multiplier that gives you the closest number!
